Power of chanting “Rāma” nāmā – From Ayurvedic perspective”

by pv

Lord Rāma is the personification of truth, kindness and compassion. We all know that chanting "Rāma" nama gives us peace. Some people say that chanting Rāma nama washes away all our sins. While it is true that it has the power to burn our sins, our poorvācharyas have said that a true bhakta will not look for a remedy to burn the sins, instead he will be ready to accept the punishment for his sins. King Parikshit did a mistake and got cursed. If he wished, he could have asked for a remedy to avoid the curse but he did not do so. Instead he was regretting for his sin and prayed for a satsang to attain moksham (liberation). In fact when he came to know that he got cursed for his mistake, he became happy because a true bhakta will not get scared to get punished.

Okay. Coming back to Rāma nama. Whatever our motive is, chanting "Rāma" nama has various amazing benefits. It is said that Rāma nama has the power to reduce the aggravated vāta dosha. Fear, anxiety, pain are all signs of vata imbalance. Rāma nama chanting gives us warmth, rest, relaxation, comfort and happiness. Children or even adults whose vāta dosha is not in a balanced state might find difficult to sleep. Chanting Rāma nama will help calming them and helping them to sleep. This would be the best saatvik sleeping pill which has only benefits and no side-effects. And there is no fear of overdose because Rāma nama chanting opens the higher light and power within us in a gentle, kind and compassionate way.

Jai SriRām!!!
